Time to test out the Prius tires! And yes, its a manual.

Ooh, fun. I've considered renting something off there sometime.

That would be a scheme to get a manual car for someone to learn stick on. Sixt provided me that car, well more like to practice on.

Never heard of this site, it’s pretty cool.

Funny you mention that. There are a bunch of ads on the site that specifically tell you that the car is not to be used to learn manual on. Some of them even say a quick ride along is required to test you on your abilities. So I am assuming people worry about that.

Yup, I rented a Mini Cooper S in manual off of there earlier in the year. It was great doing that and even saved me a ton of money versus just renting a cheap econobox. This one was more expensive for sure but I think it will be worth it.

Yeah its excellent. They finally added a transmission filter on their search tool so its a lot easier to find all of the manuals. Originally you had to click on every link and try to figure it out. Much less time consuming this way! I was between a 2016 Miata and this FRS but I have always wanted to drive an FRS so it should be fun.

If I was going to do that, I’d pick the car up, cause I can drive a stick, and then let my friend destroy the clutch, I’m sure that’s not the ethical thing to do but I’m not letting someone learn on the M3. I’m not planning on doing this, I’m just more wondering if it would be possible.

Nice, enjoy!

I mean, I cant imagine there would be any way for the car owner to figure out that you did that unless they had a camera in the car or something. But it is the same as how rental companies make you pay for additional drivers. You could of course get away with it but it becomes a liability problem if anything went wrong I guess.

That is very true, liability would be a problem. I’d also probably feel bad about doing that to someones car.

Haha yeah, ethics. Same reason I put oil in the mini cooper I had. Sure I could have just driven it until it blew up and plead ignorance. But the oil was low so I bought a quart and put it in just like I would with my own car.

I think as car people we feel bad about harming other people’s cars. I’d also made sure the owner of the cooper was aware of the issue, possible they’re ignorant. I practiced on a rental car, but that car belonged to Sixt and it was in Germany, I didn’t feel bad about that.

Oh yeah that guy was definitely aware. He told me the oil light came on the other day but he added some oil and it was fine now. I was like uhhh well we shall see. I am just glad it wasn't leaking bad enough to derail our trip. Not a good idea for him though to rent out a car that is leaking without at least providing some oil. I could easily have been cheap and just put conventional in there but I knew enough that a good synthetic is definitely required in that car.

Damn, he was almost asking for you to blow his car up. Maybe he had some warranty and didn’t care, but still stupid nevertheless.

Didn’t know about them either!
It’s a cool site though
